St. Paul celebrates FFA Week
Posted on Friday, March 16, 2007
FFA Week was celebrated in style at St. Paul School.
FFA members dressed to fit a different agriculture-related theme each day. Monday was hat day, Tuesday - farmers'day, Wednesday - camouflage day, and Thursday - blue and gold day since those are the FFA colors. All FFA members wore their official FFA T-shirts on Friday and had a bountiful lunch in the agriculture building.
The FFA officers spoke on KKIX 104 about what FFA means to each of them. This is a tradition at St. Paul School and gives the officer team an opportunity to promote the FFA and enhance their public speaking skills.
Senior Courtney Haire wrote this year's Public Service Announcement, and each officer expanded his or her part by talking about some of their own FFA experiences.
The first annual Ag Olympics was held during Encore on Friday. Students competed in the following events: frying pan throw, wheel barrow race, three legged race, and feed sack relay.
Seniors and juniors competed first, then sophomores and freshmen took the field. Winners of these two matches then played for the overall winner, and the juniors prevailed and captured the Ag Olympics championship crown.
"Our students had an excellent FFA Week, and I'm proud of them for organizing the activities and carrying through on their commitments," said FFA Advisor Susan McDonald.
