Run planned to aid cancer patient

A “ Run for the Kids 5 K and Little ’Hawks Mile” will be held Saturday, May 24, in downtown Pea Ridge to help raise funds for the family of Nancy Juarez, a local firstgrader diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.
There will be a 5 K run / walk for the following age groups: 9 and under, 10-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70 +.
The Little’Hawks Mile will be a mile run / walk for the following age groups: 6 and under, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. There will also be a noncompetitive mile walk open to participants of any age.
There will be trophies awarded to winners of all divisions in both the mile and the 5 K.
Medallions will be awarded to all second- through fifth-place finishers in both races with medals to all other finishers in the kids mile.
Entry fees are $ 10 for the 5 K, $ 5 for the open mile run / walk and $ 3 for the kids mile.
No pre-entries are required with registration set to begin at 7 a. m. The 5 K will start at 8 a. m. with the mile to begin at 8: 05 a. m.
The race will begin and end on the old high school grounds with the awards to take place in the elementary school gym.
