Mother’s Day was celebrated with many special touches at Autumn Place Village and Lodge.
The Village residents enjoyed a special dessert on Mother’s Day. The cooks prepared a lemon-raspberry cake which everyone shared at noon. The residents there enjoyed several visitors and outings for Mother’s Day, as well. Pauline Boepple’s daughter, Alice, visited and Judy Palmer visited her parents, Norm and Sally Willms. Freda Fletcher attended her family’s gathering and Ermarie Bolen went to the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and George Parnell. Bernice Donalson’s daughter visited, and Randy and Jan King of Pea Ridge visited Verlin King. Randy is Verlin’s son.
At the Lodge, each table was made beautiful with pink carnations. In addition, several residents shared their personal bouquets from family members by placing them on their dining room tables for others to enjoy. Some residents checked out for the day to go to restaurants with their families. Sally Terrell enjoyed lunch at a Rogers restaurant with he daughter, Lisa Starnes, husband, Tony, and their daughters, Kristen and Brandi, all from Rogers.
Doris Nida enjoyed lunch at the Lodge with her sister, Madge Bland, a Lodge resident. Jerry Buckman’s daughter, Linda James, and Linda’s husband and granddaughter and grandson ate lunch with Jerry. Jackie Lynch’s daughter, Sharon Wolfe, and son, Mike Lynch, shared lunch with her. Lori Spencer left for the day with her daughter, Jodee. Sharon Bowen went out for the day with her daughter, Melody. Bertha Smith spent the day shopping and out to lunch her daughter, Patty Stertz. Mae Branscum’s daughter, Ellen Mather, provided a beautiful cake and fresh flowers for all the residents to enjoy and share. Marie Carter spent the day out with her daughter, Ann, from Eureka Springs. Violet McGann’s son, Mike, from Bella Vista visited her on Sunday.
Our newest resident is Carla Benefield from Clarksville. She moved here from Clarksville and had family in Decatur. Her family including husband, children and mother took her out for the day on Mother’s day. Welcome to Autumn Place, Carla.
Meredith Ward celebrated his birthday Monday, May 12, by sharing chocolate cake and white cake with all the residents at the Lodge. Meredith’s son and his wife, who live in Bella Vista, provided the cakes. His actual birthday is May 15. His family took him out on Sunday for lunch. Happy Birthday, Meredith !
Welcome home, Dorothy Robinson. Dorothy’s daughter, Jeannie Robinson-Norton, is here from Las Vegas to care for her mother for a few days at the Lodge while she recuperates.
Clyde Hendron visited his mother on Monday for his weekly outing and visit.
Bertha Smith celebrated her May 5 birthday on May 3 with a a party attended by family and friends at First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge. Bertha was surprised and pleased at the festivities in her honor, and her Autumn Place family joins everyone who attended the party in wishing Bertha many happy birthdays ahead !
We were sorry to hear of the passing of Harold “ Gabby ” Harlan. He and his wife, Louise, were residents of the Lodge for several years before moving earlier this year to another facility for more care. Jackie Collins of Pea Ridge is Louise and Gabby’s daughter. Our sympathy and prayers go out to Louise and the rest of the family at this time.
On Saturday, I accompanied Sharon Bowen, Donna Hutchens and Lori Spencer to the Quilt Show held at First Baptist Church here in Pea Ridge. The show was a great success in attendance at the show and displaying of several dozen quilts, old and new, and the outing was fun for the residents.
Thank you to Janet Spivey and Jeff Spivey of Sisco Funeral Home here in Pea Ridge for donating several fresh flower arrangements for our residents at the Village and the Lodge to enjoy.
Thought of the Week: Pray for those affected by the storms and pray for peaceful spring weather.
