Headed South: Sonora eatery T&T Diner expands into Fayetteville with May opening
Posted on Friday, September 5, 2008
At the original T&T Diner, located on U.S. 412 in Sonora, owner Trish Stamps is used to seeing truckers pull off the busy interstate and stop in for a burger, fries and a shake.
At the diner's newest location in the Signature Bank Plaza near the intersection of Joyce Avenue and Crossover Road in east Fayetteville, she sees business professionals stopping by.
"It just goes to show that our food fits everybody,"Stamps said.
The new location opened in May in a spot that formerly housed Chubby's Coney's. It opened in advance of the closing of T&T's Springdale location, the property for which was purchased, forcing a move.
The food at T&T Diner is that of an old-fashioned diner. Things start with the breakfast menu, featuring a variety of a la carte items. Patrons can choose from the popular Country Breakfast, which includes two eggs, bacon and biscuits and gravy ($3.99). Another popular breakfast option is the Breakfast Burrito ($2.49). The creation is a tortilla stuffed with sausage, egg, cheese, potatoes and onions and is about double the size of breakfast burritos sold at fast food restaurants, Stamps said.
Another oft-purchased dish, biscuits and gravy, is sold in one-biscuit ($1.69) and two-biscuit ($2.29) sizes.
Other breakfasts can be built piece by piece with items such as ham slices (79 cents), hash browns (89 cents), a ham biscuit ($1.19), toast or a biscuit (59 cents).
For lunch and dinner, patrons can choose from a list of potential items that is more than 30 items long.
Top sellers include the variety of hamburgers, which all start with fresh-made, one-third pound patties. Options include a regular hamburger ($2.59), a cheeseburger ($2.79), all the way up to a plate-filling triple cheeseburger ($5.09). Other dinner choices include club sandwiches ($3.59), Frito Pie ($2.99), corn dogs ($1.29), foot-long chili dogs ($2.69) and a bowl of chili ($2.59).
Side dishes include french fries ($1.19), tater tots ($1.19), cheese sticks ($2.29), onion rings ($1.59) and more.
The restaurant offers daily specials, such as a recent Tuesday's offering of a Bacon Mushroom Burger served with fries and a drink for $5.29. Other specials that can be found are fried catfish on Fridays ($5.89/three-piece meal, $7.89/six-piece meal).
Smoked ribs ($7.49/half rack, $10.49/double portion) are offered on Thursdays with baked potatoes, okra and toast.
"You won't leave hungry,"Stamps promises.
For those who still aren't full, the diner's most-selected desserts are probably the fried pies. The dish contains pie filling -- flavors include coconut, peach, cherry, rhubarb and more -- and cream deep fried in a pastry shell and topped with powdered sugar ($1.79). The restaurant also serves a full range of soft serve treats, available in cups ($1.59), cones (99 cents), sundaes ($1.89), soda floats ($1.79/small, $2.09/medium, $2.79/large) and shakes ($1.79/small, $2.09/medium, $2.79/large).
The restaurant also caters.
