Fayetteville

Mrs. Nancy K. Wood, 61, of Fayetteville passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in Fayetteville. She was born March 14, 1947, in Waupun, Wis., to Clarence and Bernadine (Lemke ) Wienke. She is survived by her husband, Larry R. Wood; one daughter, Danielle Reynolds of Appleton, Wis.; two stepchildren, Lynn E. Ohl and husband Matt of Arlington, Tenn., and Bruce Wood and wife Pam of Carbondale, Colo.; one brother, Dennis Wienke and wife Jean of Juneau, Wis.; three sisters, Sandy Irving of Madison, Wis., Patty Spittal and husband Larry of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Debbie Hetzel and husband John of Hartford, Wis.; and five grandchildren, Lisa Hogan, Devan Ohl, Ryan Ohl, Aimee Wood and David Wood. Nauvel Eugene Walker, 75, of Fayetteville died Monday, July 21, 2008, at Circle of Life Hospice. Arrangements will be announced by Moore’s Chapel.

Greenland

Thomas L. DeVore, 82, of Greenland died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at his home. He was born April 26, 1926, in Prairie Grove to Marvin and Atla DeVore. He was a lifelong resident of Northwest Arkansas and a World War II Army Air Corp veteran. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his friends at the Senior Center. Tom was also a member of Fayetteville’s Farmers ’ Market. He was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Kathryn DeVore; three children, Tommy Dale DeVore and his wife Loretta, Rhonda Reaves and her husband Steve, and Carole Burgin and her husband Jim; a daughterin-law, Janet DeVore; a sister, Allyene Greer; a brother, David DeVore; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry DeVore.

The family will receive friends at Moore’s Chapel from 5 to 6 p. m. today.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at Moore’s Chapel. Burial will be private at Fayetteville National Cemetery.

Springdale

Levern Jones, 75, of Springdale died Monday, July 21, 2008, at Harrison. She was born June 26, 1933, in Mt. Vernon to Vernon and Nora Atkisson Morris. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin Jones.

Survivors include her children, Larry Jones of Torrance, Calif., and Linda Reese of Harrison; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p. m. today at Westfield Chapel in Springdale. A funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Farmington Cemetery. Summers

Stacy Kathleen Oliver, 31, of Summers died Monday, July 21, 2008, near Washburn.

She was born Sept. 2, 1976, in Siloam Springs to Virgil Wayne Oliver and Virginia Lee (Haggard ) Oliver. She was a salesperson as the Country Classic Flea Market in Tontitown. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her parents, Virgil and Virginia Oliver of Summers; a sister, Christina Watkins of Fort Smith; two stepsisters, Penny Jo Almond of Hot Springs and Jerry LeAnn Foster of Centerton; a stepbrother, Virgil Nathan Oliver of Bentonville; maternal grandmother, Lenna Mae Haggard of Siloam Springs; and paternal grandmother, Nina Mae Oliver Smith Bristow of Booneville. Pea Ridge

Billy Joe Samuel, 67, of Pea Ridge died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at his home.

He was born Jan. 20, 1941, in Clarendon. He was adopted as an infant by James Cornelius Samuel and Mary Gladys Samuel. He worked for Shell Oil Company as a computer operations supervisor. He was a member of the National Hot Rod Association.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Samuel; three daughters, Tina Marie Samuel of Tulsa, Okla., Carla Jo Samuel of Terrell, Texas, and Stephanie Renee Knappenberger of Centerton; a son, Lance Eugene Sprinkel of Bella Vista; two brothers, Gene Laxson of Rogers and W. F. “ Dub” Deaton of Swansboro, N. C.; a mother-in-law, Emegene “ Jean ” Arthurs of Bentonville; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Pea Ridge with the Rev. Rick Booyer officiating. Burial will be in Buttram Chapel Cemetery.

Rogers

Charlene J. “ Char” Porta, 81, of Rogers died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in a local health care facility.

She was born Oct. 5, 1926, in Chicago to Brevet Emery and Pearl Becker Emer y. She was active in bowling leagues and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers, where she taught Sunday school. In California she worked for Ketema Aerospace Company, where she was the office manager of accounts payable. In Rogers she worked for the Hoyt Corporation. She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Porta. Survivors include three sons, Henry Schrik of Poway, Calif., and Chuck Schrik and Don Schrik, both of Rogers; a stepson Michael Porta of North East, Md.; a stepdaughter, Karen Hamm of Liberty, Tenn.; and 8 grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-7 p. m. today at Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at the Rogers Cemetery with the Rev. William Holt officiating.

Conway

Eugene Tolbert Huckabay, 73, of Conway died Saturday, July 19, 2008, in Little Rock. He was born July 5, 1935, in St. Louis to Eugene Franklin Huckabay and Margaret (Herbert ) Clark. After high school he enlisted in the U. S. Army National Guard. He served with the 4154 th U. S. Army Reserve Forces School in North Little Rock and was awarded the meritorious service medal in recognition of 42 years of military service at Camp Pike and retired a Chief Warrant Officer (CW 4 ) in 1995 with the 4154 th as a civilian employee of the Department of Defense. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Hale of Maumelle; two sisters, Kathleen Morris of Fayetteville and Synda Dillard of Frierson, La.; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.

Julie Nell Stepp, 30, of Dardanelle, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in Fayetteville. She was born Dec. 7, 1977, to Artist Stepp and Adelaide Adamson. Survivors include her parents, Adelaide Adamson of Fayetteville and Artist Stepp of Pettigrew; two sisters, Debra Conard of Cabot and Alyson Thornton of Sun Prairie, Wis.; three brothers, Danny Stepp of Conway, David Stepp of Little Rock and Adam Brown of Fort Worth, Texas; and a grandmother, Billie Adamson of Brenham, Texas. Colcord, Okla.

Jack Aaron Doughty, 63, of Colcord, Okla., died July 22, 2008, at his home. He was born April 24, 1945, in Stockton, Calif., to William Fred Doughty and Hazel Bernice Powell Doughty. He had a major role in establishing the Colcord Senior Center and was president of the center for 10 years. He was an auto parts manager for Gibson’s in Okmulgee, Okla.

Survivors include his parents, William and Hazel Doughty of Colcord, Okla.; a brother, Ronald Doughty of Hollister, Mo.; two sisters, Charlene Archibald of Littleton, Colo., and Donna Hignite of Colcord, Okla.

Visitation will be 5: 30-7 p. m. Friday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday at the funeral home with Larry Ellis, Pastor Ron Johnson and Pastor Andy Kuehn officiating. Burial will follow in Row Cemetery near Colcord, Okla.

Pallbearers will be Troy Crites, Ricky Hignite, Gerry Archibald, Jim Botts, Stanley Hignite and Paul Eisler.
