Fayetteville

Irene Bergal, 79, of Fayetteville died Saturday, July 19, 2008. She was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Bethel, Conn., to Albert Couillard and Lula Stone. She was a retired professor in the foreign languages department at the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Orchid Society of the Ozarks. She is survived by many friends. Roy "Bob"Richardson, 72, of Fayetteville died Saturday, July 19, 2008. He was born Aug. 13, 1935, in Minco, Okla., to Leroy and Daisy Herron Richardson. He was a country music entertainer and served in the U. S. Marine Corps for 23 years. Survivors include his wife, Jeannie Richardson; three sons, Brad, Johnny and Ernie Richardson; three daughters, Wendy Lau, Bobbie Denny and Sheri Mason; a brother, Kenneth Richardson; two sisters, Shirley George and Peggy Vickery; three stepdaughters, Lisa Harney, Melanie Amon and Tammy Stephenson; a stepson Patrick Phillips; 20 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at West Fork Cemetery. Cremation arrangements were by Beard's Funeral Chapel and Crematory of Fayetteville. Springdale

Patricia Sue Geels, 68, of Springdale died Saturday, July 19, 2008. She was born June 1, 1940, in Fayetteville to Nathaniel and Thelma Ladd Wilder. She was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge and St. Raphael Catholic Church.

Survivors include a son, Steve Geels Jr. of Springdale; two daughters, Angela Geels and Sheryl White, both of Springdale; three brothers, Sunny "Nathaniel"Wilder of Fayetteville, Terry Wilder of Springdale and Ronald Wilder of Batesville; three sisters, Betty Jackson of Springdale, Christina LeBau of Springdale and Sherly Burnett of Brickpark, Ohio; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with Funeral Mass following at 10: 30 a.m. at St. Raphael Roman Catholic Church with Father John Anthony officiating. Thelma Joyce Webb, 93, of Springdale died Sunday, July 20, 2008. Arrangements will be announced by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home and Crematory of Fayetteville.

Huntsville

Virgie Isabelle Wiles, 89, of Huntsville died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Meadowview Healthcare and Rehab in Huntsville. She was born April 4, 1919, in Blackgum, Okla., to William Harrison and Carrie Isabell Stubbs Pruitt. She was a homemaker and a member of the Christian Union Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Clarence Wiles; a son, Johnny Larry Wiles; and a daughter, Mary Robinson.

Sur vivors include two sons, Tom Wiles and Ronnie Wiles, both of Huntsville; two daughters, Carolyn Carney of Huntsville and Freida Stonesifer of Fayetteville; a brother, Thomas Pruitt of Sallisaw, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Brashears Funeral Home in Huntsville.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Eastside Christian Union Church in Springdale with the Revs. Stephen Schaefer and David Schaefer officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Box Cemetery in Box, Okla.

Pallbearers will be Ben Wiles, Andy Wiles, Kenny Robinson, Randall Robinson, Jason Carney, Brent Stonesifer and Marty Hummel.

Memorials can be made to the Arkansas Christian Union Youth Camp in care of Melba Collins, 589 N. Columbia Drive, Fayetteville, AR 72704.

Rogers

Steven "Steve"Byron Hammond, 48, of Rogers died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

He was born Aug. 11, 1959, in Rantoul, Ill., to Joseph and Doris Turpin Hammond. He was a retired lance corporal in the U. S. Marine Corps, serving in places such as Camp David and also serving as security for President Jimmy Carter.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda; a daughter, Emily Dell Hammond Peterson of Hot Springs; a stepson, Fernando "Nano "Sorenson of Wichita, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Peaches Soto of Wichita, Kan., and Sulema Santillan of Rogers; a brother, Raymond Beal of San Antonio; two sisters, Monica Duree of Wichita, Kan., and Debbie Newcomb of Princeton, Ky.; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation and a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lowell Baptist Church in Lowell with Bro. Gary Thomas officiating.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Olivet Baptist Church in Wichita, Kan., with Pastor Ron Pracht officiating. Full military honors and burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Bentley, Kan., at 12: 30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Adan Soto, Al Cruzeiro, Danny Duree, Pancho Santillan, Ryan Peterson, Fernando "Nano "Sorenson, Jeremy Burnett and Damian Burnett.

Memorials can be made to Habitat for Humanity.
