Fayetteville
Melvin (Pat ) Allen, 72, of Fayetteville died July 18, 2008, at Westwood Health and Rehab in Springdale. Services will be announced by Memorial Funeral Home of Springdale. Farmington JERRY LEE THURMAN Jerry Lee Thurman, 61, of Farmington died July 18, 2008, at his home in Farmington. He was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Prairie Grove to Dempsey and Hazel Pense Thurman. He is survived by a son, Scottie Thurman of Farmington; a daughter, Stephanie Ralston of Farmington; two sisters, Carol Ryan of Farmington and Joyce Collins of Westville, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Monday at Luginbuel Chapel in Prairie Grove. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Clark Snow officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery.
Siloam Springs
Don Boling, 53, of Siloam Springs died Friday, July 18, 2008, at his home. Arrangements will be announced by Wasson Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
Wesley
Frank Gordon Allen, 83, of Wesley died July 18, 2008, at his home. He was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Detroit to Frank Clarence and Florence Cecelia Cousineau Allen. He was a retired truck driver, a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Huntsville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survive by his wife, Nona Marcus Wisckol Allen of the home; a daughter, Victoria M. Allen of Wesley; a sister, Geraldine Hinshaw of Huntsville; and one grandchild. Private interment was in Drakes Creek Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville.
Bella Vista
Christine Lynn Chapman, 39, of Bella Vista died on July 15, 2008, at the Northwest Arkansas Medical Center in Springdale after a short illness.
She was born on July 5, 1969, in Newton, Kan., to Harvey D. and Sallie M. Stucky.
She attended and graduated from Bentonville High School, where she was a cheerleader and gymnast. She attended and graduated from the University of Arkansas, where she was a Razorback cheerleader. She also was a cheerleading instructor for the UCA. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and was on the dean's and chancellor's lists while in college. She worked as an interpreter for the deaf in Little Rock and Springdale. She was also trained as a Montessori teacher and worked in Memphis, Tenn., and Denver at this occupation. She continued her education in the Information Technology industry and worked in this industry until the last two years of her life. The last two years of her life were spent helping her mother care for her father and preparing her daughter for kindergarten. She had planned to return to working in the IT industry in the fall.
She was an avid athlete, enjoying tennis, swimming, hiking and canoeing. She played in several area tennis tournaments throughout her life. She loved gardening, music, cooking and her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, wife and friend. She is preceded in death by her father, Harvey D. Stucky of Bella Vista.
She is survived by her daughter, Sallie Quinn, 5, and her husband Gregory Paul, of Bella Vista; her mother Sallie M. Stucky of Bella Vista; two brothers, Bill Charlsen and wife Charla of Newton, Kan., and Tim Charlsen and wife Robin of Littleton, Colo.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and in-laws. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Stockdale Funeral Services, 2898 W. Walnut, Rogers. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at St. Theodore's Episcopal Church, 1001 Kingsland Road, Bella Vista, with the Rev. Ken Parks and Pastor Dallas LaCaze officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held Wednesday, July 23, at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton, Kan. Floral arrangements can be sent to the funeral home.
