BioBased Systems has been named the 2006 "Outstanding Environmental Business"by the Arkansas Sierra Club.

The organization will honor the company April 15 during the Conservation Awards Banquet in Little Rock.

Glen Hooks, associate regional representative, described the decision to honor BioBased Systems as somewhat fortuitous. Sierra Club associates were touring the Heifer International headquarters in Little Rock a few weeks ago when they learned about the company’s environmentally safe, soy-based spray foam insulation. "We were really impressed with it and did a little more research, and we wanted to honor a local company that was doing such good work,"Hooks said.

BioBased Insulation is installed in liquid form and expands to more than 100 times its original size within seconds. As it expands, the insulation conforms and fills each cavity, crevice and void to create a sealed thermal envelope.

The spray foam insulation products provide residential and commercial customers with an estimated saving of 30-50 percent on energy efficiency costs. Additionally, Bio-Based products support more than 600,000 soybean farmers throughout the United States, including Arkansas.

The product also adheres to nearly any surface and doesn’t shrink, settle or disintegrate. "BioBased is proud to receive this award,"Mike Muccio, chief operating officer of BioBased Systems, stated in a press release. "The Sierra Club has remained a strong advocate for a healthy and pure environment for more than a century, and Bio-Based is equally dedicated to providing environmentally safe products with a proven reputation for success to the consumer."
