Teacher attends Washington seminar

West Fork High School history teacher David Schieffler was one of 25 educators around the nation to attend a one-week seminar on George Washington at Brown University in Providence, R. I., this summer.
Taught by Brown University Professor Gordon Wood, the seminar was titled "The Era of George Washington "and examined the life and times of America's first president and the Revolutionary War era. The seminar was sponsored by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, according to a press release from the institute.
"The Gilder Lehr man Institute's summer seminars are designed to strengthen educators' commitment to high quality history teaching," the release stated.
The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History was founded in 1994. This year, the institute has scheduled 32 different seminars for teachers.
