HOOVER, Ala. — More than 700 media members weren’t the only ones clamoring for an opportunity to speak with Florida quarterback Tim Tebow on Wednesday at SEC Media Days.
Michele King and her 4-year-old daughter, Emma, camped out for more than three hours in the lobby of the Wynfrey Hotel in hopes of meeting Florida’s star. Joined with them were about a dozen fans from as far away as Georgia decked out in Gators gear.
King’s daughter, whose birthday is Friday, brought a poster board adorned with, “ All I want 4 my birthday is to meet Tim Tebow, ” to the event.
“ We’re hoping she gets her birthday wish, ” King said.
The two arrived at the Wynfrey Hotel at 11: 30 a. m., and despite waiting until 2: 30 p. m., only caught quick glimpses of Tebow’s frame at the top of an escalator as he walked between interview sessions. Tebow isn’t the first to garner so much fan obsession. One fan followed a heavily guarded Darren McFadden from the Wynfrey Hotel in Hoover to the Birmingham airport after SEC Media Days last year.
