Fayetteville 5 Jonesboro 3 (Age 11 60 ft )
The Fayetteville 11-yearold 60-foot Cal Ripken All-Stars capitalized on some late Jonesboro miscues to claim a 5-3 victory Saturday at the state tournament in Oceola.
Trailing 1-0 in the fifth, Fayetteville's Dane Shields drove in Kade Scott to tie up matters. Brandon Cueva drove in Sam Threlkeld to give Fayetteville a 3-2 lead late in the game. Devon Nielson crossed the plate on a passed ball for Fayetteville's final run of the game.
Fayetteville played in a late game Saturday night against Van Buren, and the results were not available at presstime. The All-Stars will take the field again today, with a time to be determined.
