Blessings Golf Club to host national junior golf events

BRASELTON, Ga. - The American Junior Golf Association announced Wednesday that Blessings Golf Club will host an AJGA tournament for the next three years. The inaugural event - The AJGA Junior Championship at The Blessings - will be held July 28-31.

The 2008 event will feature 99 of the nation's top boy and girl junior golfers ages 12-18. Tournament rounds will be played Tuesday, July 29 through Thursday, July 31.

The course will stage another AJGA Open event in 2009 before hosting the prestigious Rolex Tournament of Champions in 2010, an AJGA Invitational that has produced past champions such as Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Charles Howell III.

"We are excited about the events and holding the Rolex Tournament of Champions in 2010. We appreciate the support of everyone at Blessings Golf Club," said Jason Etzen, AJGA executive vice president of corporate partnerships.

Blessings Golf Club, located in Fayetteville, is ranked No. 2 in Arkansas by Golf Digest. Blessings Course, one of two at the club, features 7, 527 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones II and was finished in 2004.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501 (c )(3 ) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf.

The AJGA, the largest Association of its kind, has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18 ) of more than 5, 000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 foreign countries.
