Two men arrested in Arvest Bank robbery investigation

Two men accused of robbing an Arvest Bank branch in Fayetteville on Wednesday evening are in police custody.
Marcus Lyrone Green, 32, of 16645 Boxley and Dellemond Cunningham, 30, of 1662 Dawn were arrested during separate traffic stops Thursday night.
Green faces felony charges of aggravated robbery and theft of property. Cunningham faces charges for accomplice to aggravated robbery, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine ), simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a firearm by certain persons and theft of property.
Officers responded to Arvest Bank, 1113 N. Garland Ave., at about 6: 35 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said a black man wearing a white T-shirt, khaki or gray shorts, a white hat, sunglasses and black tennis shoes entered the bank and brandished a silver handgun. The suspect allegedly demanded money from a bank clerk before fleeing northbound with more than $ 3, 000.
No one was injured during the heist.
Police distributed images of the suspect and information about the robbery to local media outlets, resulting in several leads from the public. Officers used the information to identify Green as a prime suspect. Informants additionally identified Cunningham as Green's accomplice.
Green was stopped by police just south of Fayetteville. During an interview with investigators, he reportedly admitted to robbing the bank at gunpoint and using a gun borrowed from Cunningham.
Cunningham was also stopped by police Thursday evening. During a search of his vehicle, police found a. 22-caliber handgun matching the description of the weapon used during bank robbery, according to the report. During an interview with investigators, Cunningham reportedly admitted to driving the car used to approach and flee the bank and lending his gun to Green to threaten bank employees.
A preliminary arrest report issued by the Fayetteville Police Department on Friday revealed that Cunningham was a convicted felon out on parole at the time of the robbery.
According to police, Green has a criminal history with the Fayetteville Police Department dating back to 2006 for possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, driving-related charges and misdemeanor warrants.
Both Green and Cunningham were taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where they were being held Friday evening. A bond amount had not been posted. The two men are expected to make their first appearance in Washington County Circuit Court on Monday.
The investigation is continuing.
