City begins work on Joyce Boulevard
Posted on Tuesday, July 29, 2008
Drivers can expect traffic delays as city transportation crews begin working today on a portion of Joyce Boulevard between Mall Avenue and College Avenue. The overlay project is expected to take about two weeks.
While through traffic will be maintained, drivers should be aware of lane closures. Crews will do some of the work during the overnight hours to minimize traffic disruption.
Gary Dumas, director of operations for the city, said crews try to work during the night when working in heavy traffic locations.
Crews are also working on a portion of College Avenue. Street improvements are being made to the portion between Rock and Maple streets. The curbs and sidewalks along College Avenue are being removed and replaced. The project also includes the addition of trees and lighting, upgrades or replacement of traffic lights, access improvements, and a complete overlay.
Dumas said crews are not working on College Avenue overnight.
"The traffic is moving adequately with the lane closures that they've had," he said.
