Officers make arrest in child porn investigation

A West Fork man was taken into custody Thursday on charges related to child pornography.
Gregory L. Gebhart, 50, of 17 Elmwood, faces a felony charge of viewing / possessing / distributing sexually explicit material involving a child.
Investigators with the Fayetteville Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation between April 26 and July 16 into an online exchange of sexually explicit images involving children.
The exchange was traced to a computer at a residence in West Fork. Investigators executed a search warrant for the residence Wednesday with the help of the West Fork Police Department.
Gebhart was arrested at the residence without incident and taken into police custody. He was being held Wednesday night at the Washington County Detention Center.
A bond amount had not been set.
This investigation is ongoing.
