Officers arrest man wanted on robbery charges

Fayetteville police arrested a fourth and final suspect linked to a recent string of robberies.

Darrell Green, 22, of 25 S. Duncan Ave. in Fayetteville, faces criminal charges of aggravated robbery, robbery, fraudulent use of a credit card, theft by receiving and continuing to engage in a criminal enterprise. He was arrested Saturday.

Martez Deunta Butler, 18, of 435 S. Happy Hollow Road, Fayetteville, was arrested June 9 on charges of robbery, engaging in violent criminal group activity, fraudulent use of a credit card and theft by receiving.

Keith Dwayne Matthews, 18, of the same address, was arrested June 10 on charges involving three counts of robbery, engaging in violent criminal group activity, fraudulent use of a credit card, theft by receiving and three counts of breaking or entering (vehicles ).

Robert Stanley Finks, 19, of 1601 N. Leverett Ave., Apt. 26, Fayetteville, was arrested June 9 on charges involving two counts of robbery, engaging in violent criminal group activity, breaking or entering, fraudulent use of a credit card, and theft by receiving.

Butler and Matthews are accused of robbing a man who was walking in the area of Center and Hill streets at about 1: 15 a. m. May 31. The suspects allegedly took the victim’s wallet containing several credit cards and cash. Further investigation revealed that the credit cards were used at two gas stations and Wal-Mart.

Finks and Matthews were allegedly involved in the robberies of a man walking near the Frisco Trail and a woman walking in the parking lot of 2100 N. Leverett Ave., both in the early morning hours of June 4. Within minutes of the first incident, the victim’s credit card was being used at a gas station and Wal-Mart. Police used sur veillance video to determine Finks and Britany Elaine Moreton, 18, of 1293 Fairlane St., Fayetteville, were using the credit card. Moreton was arrested June 9 on charges of fraudulent use of a credit card and theft by receiving.

All suspects involved in the robberies implicated Green as a suspect. Further investigation linked Green and other suspects to an attempted robbery on May 22, when he allegedly attempted to rob a University of Arkansas student at gunpoint on Arkansas Avenue.

Fayetteville police issued a warrant for Green’s arrest Friday.

According to police, the four suspects are not tied to any specific gang in Fayetteville.

Green was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $ 250, 000 bond Tuesday.
