One Whitehouse family was left without a home and another is left with only half of one after a fire ravaged two mobile homes Monday morning.

Laurie Roy, Washington County assistant fire marshal, said three fire departments - Round Mountain, Elkins and Whitehouse - responded to the call when it came in around 9 a.m. When crews arrived, she said, one trailer was fully involved and the fire was threatening the second trailer, which eventually became partially involved.

"One was completely destroyed, and the other received damage on one end," Roy said.

Firefighters cleared the scene at about 11 a.m. Roy said the initial investigation showed that the fire started in the destroyed trailer's water heater room.

Everyone in both trailers got out safely, she said. The American Red Cross was tending to the victims when firefighters were leaving, she said.
