The Community Blood Center of the Ozarks will join with the Ozarks Chorus of the Greater Ozarks chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society for the Singing for Life blood drive on Saturday.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the blood center's Springdale Donor Center at 3503 S. Thompson Ave.

Blood donors will be entertained by one of several barbershop quartets. All participants will also receive a custom T-shirt that will let others know that they're a fan of both great music and saving lives.

The Singing for Life blood drive is part of a national effort by the Barbershop Harmony Society to provide lifesaving blood and promote donations activities.

"Barbershop music has long been about more than music," said Ed Watson, CEO of the Barbershop Harmony Society. "We sing about love, friendship, family, humor and brotherhood, but we also strive to live it. In that spirit, we hope that the Singing for Life blood drive can ease the suffering and give the gift of life to many members of our communities across the country."

Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donors provide all of the blood and blood products used in nine Northwest Arkansas hospitals, including Washington Regional and Northwest medical centers.
