Ward 4 spring cleanup scheduled for Saturday

The Ward 4 Spring Bulky Waste Clean Up will be held from 7 a. m. to 2 p. m. Saturday at the Ozark Electric Cooperative parking lot, west entrance, 3641 Wedington Drive; and Shaver Foods parking lot, behind the Randal Tyson Track Center, 1367 S. Beechwood Ave.
There are limitations on what can be accepted. Only one Freon-bearing appliance is allowed per household. Residents must bring a copy of a current city water bill for verification of residency in order to drop off items.
Items that are allowed are: couches, chairs and mattresses; large appliances such as, refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers; carpet, padding, vinyl flooring, drywall and paneling (limited amounts only, no contractors allowed ); lawn mowers, water heaters and plumbing fixtures; and e-waste such as televisions, computers and cell phones. E-waste items can only be dropped off at the Shaver Foods location.
Items not allowed include: household hazardous wastes such as paint, thinners, solvents, pesticides, herbicides, batteries, cleaning chemicals and automotive fluids; household garbage, commercial garbage, medical waste, dirt, rocks, brush, leaves and grass; and tires.
Washington County operates a household hazardous waste collection center and a tire trailer. The site is located at 2615 Brink Drive in south Fayetteville and is open from 8 a. m. to 4 p. m. Monday through Friday. The center can be reached at 444-1725.
