The wife of the artist charged with stealing more than $ 17, 000 from art students was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation.

Circuit Judge Tom Keith ordered Shandine Tyler to be evaluated at Ozark Guidance Center before the case continues.

The order was issued at a hearing July 7.

Timothy and Shandine Tyler are expected to return to court Sept. 8 for an omnibus hearing.

Keith previously reset the case to July 7 in a hearing June 2.

Scott McElveen, deputy public defender, was recently appointed to represent Timothy Tyler.

John Elrod represents Shandine Tyler.

The charges filed against the Tylers originated because they allegedly charged art students for a workshop that Timothy Tyler was expected to host in Belfast, Ireland, in June 2007.

Tyler reportedly did not show up for the June 9, 2007, to June 16, 2007, workshop at Limepark Arts and Cottages.

A separate theft charge that only Timothy Tyler faces originate because he allegedly used a woman’s credit card without her permission on Oct. 27, 2006, and Oct. 30, 2006.

This charge was rolled into the previous charges to become one case.

The Tylers told police that they refunded all the charges.
