SSHS students receive FBLA honors in Atlanta

Several students from Siloam Springs High School received national recognition at the Future Business Leaders Awards of Excellence on June 29 in Atlanta, Ga.
Winners from SSHS were • Heath Nance, 3 rd place in State Chapter Annual Business Report • Heath Nance and Lauren Irby, 6 th place in American Enterprise Project; and • Evan Ross, 10 th place in Introduction to Technology Concepts.
The State Chapter Annual Business Report communicates the state FBLA's growth and the methods and projects used in achieving its goals. This event recognizes FBLA state chapters that effectively summarize their year's activities in a business report.
The American Enterprise Project recognizes FBLA chapters that develop projects within the school and / or community that increase understanding of and support for the American enterprise system by developing an information / education program.
The Introduction to Technology Concepts event provides recognition for FBLA members in grades 9-10 who understand the basic principles involved in computer technology.
Each winning student received a plaque and Nance and Irby earned $ 100 for their win. SSHS FBLA has placed at the FBLA National Leadership Conference ten times in the past 12 years.
Other SSHS students competing were • Callie Brown, Introduction to Business Communications • Tori Fancher, Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure • Brent Houston, Business Procedures; and • Tyler Garrett and Heather Walton, Partnership With Business Project.
Students were accompanied on the trip by SSHS FBLA local chapter adviser Lisa Hotsenpiller.
Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, the largest and oldest student business organization, held their National Leadership Conference at the Marriott Marquis, June 26-29. Conference participants from around the country, and the world, were in attendance for the conference.
The awards were part of a comprehensive competitive events program sponsored by FBLA-PBL.
Individuals, state teams, and local chapters were encouraged to compete in any of the over 50 different events representing a wide range of activities and the business and leadership development focus of FBLAPBL.
The winners of these highly competitive and prestigious awards were selected from among FBLA-PBL's members of 250, 000 students and advisers and represent some of the best and brightest of today's youth.
