Barbecue activities planned

DECATUR ó The application deadline for the Miss Decatur Barbecue Pageant and the Tiny Tot Contest has been moved to July 24 and plans for the annual fun run and parade have been set.
Activities for the 55 th Annual Decatur Barbecue on August 1 will begin at 6: 30 a.m. with the registration for the fun run. There will be a 2 K, 5 K and 10 K race. Entry fees are $ 10, with the races beginning at 7 a.m. All participants will be given a T- shirt, and a first-, second- and third-place award will be given in each category. The Decatur Parade will be at 2: 30 p.m. Lineup begins at 1: 30 p.m. at the Old Decatur Park. Participants are asked to contact Stacy Brooks at 790-7171 to discuss parade lineup. Floats, horses, tractors and collector cars and motorcycles are all invited to participate in the parade.
Applications for the Miss Decatur Barbecue Pageant will be accepted through July 24. The contest is open to girls age 15 through 19. The application fee is $ 35. A new award, Hometown Horizons, will be presented for participants from Decatur. Applications can be picked up from the Decatur State Bank or at city hall.
