Fire Department offers safety programs
Posted on Wednesday, July 16, 2008
New safety programs have been developed at the Bella Vista Fire Department, according to Fire Chief Steve Sims.
With catchy titles such as "Watch What You Heat," about preventing and containing kitchen fires, and "Fire Drills, the Great Escape," about creating a family evacuation plan, the programs should interest the general public, Sims said.
There is also a new program for preventing home ignition of wildland fires.
"We've been getting some moisture lately, but who knows what July, August and September will bring," Sims said.
All of the new programs are available for presentation by the fire chief and are recorded on CD and VHS.
The programs will also be broadcast on Bella Vista Community Television Channel 16. Check local listings for dates and times.
Brochures on a variety of topics are available at the city offices, located in Suite 416 at Upper Town Center, and the Fire Department.
Sims encourages area civic groups and churches to offer these programs to their members. Contact the chief at 855-8249.
