Community Church Family activities at Bella Vista Community Church begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday with a pizza supper in the lower level, followed by Bible studies from 6:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Fields of Faith, in partnership with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bentonville High School baseball field. Moms and kids are invited to join a preschool play group at the Riordan playground at 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9. In case of rain, the group will meet at Chic-fil-A on Walton Boulevard in Bentonville. Almighty Father can guide us in handling the almighty dollar

This is the time of year when many churches in Bella Vista are involved in raising money for their annual budgets. Some folks always get a little testy when it comes to money. I have never understood why every organization in the community can ask for money and it’s okay, but if a church asks for money, it is the unpardonable sin. Jesus talked a lot about money. Some New Testament scholars say he talked more about money than heaven or hell and prayer and faith combined. More than 40 percent of the 38 parables he gives us deal in some way with the issue of stewardship. That means almost every other time Jesus told a story, it was about giving. How would you like it if every other time you came to worship, the sermon was on money? Guess what - that’s the way it was with Jesus. Why so much concern over money with our Lord? He never had any money for himself. He knows there is nothing that can bless your life more than money, and nothing can put you into deep trouble quicker than the misuse of money. Homeschoolers seminar The library will host the seminar at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11. The program is open to parents who have been thinking about homeschooling their children but have questions that need to answered before making that decision. Used-book sale The Friends of the Library’s used-book store, Encore Books, is having a “clean sweep” sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, and from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, Oct. 25, in the library. Books of all types will be available, along with puzzles, DVDs, VHS tapes and more. Spooktacular Kids of all ages are invited to this second annual Halloween event, to be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 26, in the library. There will be games, candy, drawings, stories, crafts and a costume contest. Costumes are not required to attend. Medicare Maze Have questions about Medicare? Seminar on ‘World Situation’

The Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista will host a Christian Education Seminar on “The Current World Situation: Islam, Christianity, Judaism and the Ongoing Conflict in the Middle East.” The Rev. Bill Henning will present three sessions: Friday, Oct. 24, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 26, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The seminar will be held at the church, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd. The community is invited. Henning will be the guest preacher at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday, Oct. 26.
