The Bella Vista Back Center is conducting a food drive for residents of both the two-legged and four-legged communities.

People may donate canned food and toiletry items at the center to benefit needy families in northwest Arkansas. Village Bible Evangelical Free Church will be distributing the collected items through its food pantry.

Dog and cat food also may be dropped off at the Back Center to be sent on to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter. Crunchy and soft food is requested.

"Everybody needs a little help here and there," said Rebecca Wells, a chiropractor with the Bella Vista Back Center.

Wells said she read a news article about the animal shelter needing food and decided to contribute. She also knew the pantry at the church needed to be restocked.

"This is a season when people need canned goods, as well as help for our furry friends," she said.

Donors can enter a drawing to win a 16-ounce bottle of Biofreeze, valued at $ 45, according to Wells.

Biofreeze is a topical analgesic and natural pain reliever, Wells said. The cold therapy relieves back, muscle, shoulder, neck and joint pain, and provides relief for arthritis, she added.

A donation of four cans of people food or two toiletry items will earn one ticket for the drawing.

Donating one bag or two cans of animal food will also earn a ticket.

Cash donations for the shelter will equal one ticket per dollar. Donors may enter as many times as they wish.

The Bella Vista Back Center is located at 2850 Bella Vista Way, across from Sugar Creek Center. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday.

The drive will continue through Nov. 7.
