Essay deadline just weeks away

The deadline for entries in two patriotic scholarship competitions is less than a month away.
Local students - both homeschooled and in public schools - can enter the annual contests offered by the National Veterans of Foreign Wars and locally by the Bella Vista Robert M. Sterrett VFW Ladies'Auxiliary and post members.
The Patriot's Pen written essay competition is for students in grades six through eight. The theme this year is "Why America's Veterans Should Be Honored."
The Voice of Democracy is an audio / written essay contest for grades nine through 12. This year's theme is "Service and Sacrifice by America's Veterans Benefit Today's Youth by …"
The deadline for both competitions is Nov. 1.
