Scorpions perfect in pool play

McKINNEY, Texas - Troy Cahill had a double and a triple to lead the Arkansas Scorpions 11-and-under competitive baseball team to a 12-2 win Monday against the Southlakes, Texas, Black Dragons in the Super Series American Division World Series at the Ballfields at Craig's Ranch.

Cahill also took the win on the mound, holding the Dragons to only five hits.

Cahill drove in three runs and scored twice. Kacey Murphy chipped in three hits and three RBIs. Chase Kilgore added a hit and two RBIs while Jake Shelby, Michael Stark and Nick Hardy each had a hit.

The Scorpions, made up of players from Bentonville, Rogers and Gravette, moved to 2-0 in pool play in the 18-team tournament. They face the Red Mesa Mustangs from Tulsa, Okla., at 10 a.m. today in their final pool game.

The double-elimination championship brackets begin play Wednesday.
