SSHS setter selected for A2 camp

SILOAM SPRINGS — One of Arkansas’ top high school volleyball players is taking her game to the national level.

Siloam Springs junior setter Hannah Allison recently was selected as the first volleyball player from Arkansas to be invited to the A 2 camp held this week in Tucson, Ariz.

Allison will be competing with and against girls her age from all across the United States for 10 days.

Allison, who made the A 1 team as a sophomore but was unable to par- ers from Northwest Arkansas including four from Siloam Springs, finished the tournament with a 7-4 record and improved upon their 14 th place finish in 2007. The four girls representing Siloam Springs are Allison, Allie Wade, Lizzy Briones and Staci Williamson. According to Allison, the team’s overall finish this season was the best of any Arkansas club team competing on the national level.

“ The competition was really tough, ” Allison said. “ We had to win a national qualifier in order to make the trip to Dallas. On the second day of the tournament, we were able to take 2 of 3 games from the best team in the tournament, NorCal 16-1 Black. ” NorCal 16-1 Black, a team from Northern California, won the championship, despite dropping two games to the Ozark Juniors 161.

The Ozark Juniors 161 are coached by former University of Arkansas volleyball standout Denise Baez. ticipate due to a wrist injury, said she’s looking forward to this summer’s camp.

“ I’m not going to be nervous. I’ve been in club volleyball enough that I always find someone that I know, plus this is another great opportunity to meet girls from all over the country, ” she said.

Allison and the other campers will spend six days training before going through the final four days with live game competition.

Also, Allison and her Ozark Club volleyball team recently placed ninth overall in the Silver Championship of the 2008 16-and-under National Division tournament held in Dallas.
