BENTONVILLE — In the next week or so, temporary classroom structures are scheduled to be erected behind the Arend Arts Center on the Bentonville High School campus on Southeast J Street.
If the Bentonville Planning Commission gives the Bentonville Public School District the nod on Tuesday, temporary structures will follow at Ruth Hale Barker and Spring Hill middle schools.
At 5 p. m. Tuesday, the Planning Commission will meet at the Community Development Building, 305 S. W. A St., to review several items, including the request for further temporary classroom structures at Bentonville’s public schools. The district has been drawing up a plan for the temporary space since voters turned down a millage increase during the last election.
District facilities director Scott Passmore said the temporary space at Ruth Hale Barker, 500 S. E. 18 th St., and Spring Hill, 3400 Arkansas Highway 72 West, will be used to house a combined 100 students as growth has outpaced the district’s ability to build.
Hours of operation are expected to be 7: 30 a. m. to 4 p. m. during the normal school calendar year.
Bentonville planning staff has recommended a two-year conditional use permit for the structures at Ruth Hale Barker and Spring Hills, just as it approved for the temporary structures to be erected at BHS.
Additional items on agenda include:
• Alvin and Ila Narney have submitted large sale development plans for the construction of Mid-Town Plaza, to be located at 107 and 109 S. E. 14 th St. The proposed development will consist of a 2, 700-square-foot Einstein Bagels restaurant and a 2, 486-square-foot retail center.
