BENTON COUNTY — In the now Democrat-controlled House of Representatives, he is one of the few Republican members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to get three subcommittee assignments, U. S. Rep. John Boozman, R-Ark., said Wednesday.

He will serve on the same three subcommittees he served on in the last Congress: Aviation; Highway; and Water Resources. And he is glad to have the chance to continue to work on transportation issues important to his constituents, the congressman said Wednesday.

“ I am pleased with my assignments and the opportunity to continue working on the infrastructure needs of the 3 rd District. These assignments will allow my office to continue its work to create Interstate 49 through Arkansas, address minimumflow issues affecting the state, and improve air travel in and out of the 3 rd District, ” Boozman said.

The committee is responsible for building public infrastructure, including such major projects as highways, bridges, airports, locks and dams, and public transit systems.

The northwest Arkansas congressman is chairman of the I-49 Caucus, a group of legislators committed to making Interstate 49, a proposed route from New Orleans to Canada, a reality.
