Big changes in immigration laws needed now
The U. S. census makes some interesting predictions: Whites will be in the minority in the U. S. by 2042, eight years earlier than previously predicted, and Hispanics (15 percent of the population now ) will account for 30 percent in 2050.
If we don't like those predictions and the prospect of a Third World country, some mighty big changes are needed in our policies and laws.
Anchor babies, which are children born to illegals in the U. S. as citizens; and chain immigration, which is the process by which family members of adult immigrants who gain citizenship can send for their relatives, are probably two of the many reasons for illegal-alien expansion.
Before 1950, America's chainmigration policies included only spouses and minor children of immigrants, but since then allows legal immigrants to send for their parents and adult children of their parents, who in turn can send for their children, parents, etc. These laws need to be changed, but in the meantime we need state E-Verifying laws like Mississippi just put into effect.
I noted that Sen. Mark Pryor, D-Ark., has U. S. legislation under review by a congressional committee to have all businesses using the E-Verify system for new hires within four years. Good for Pryor. Maybe that will convince Gov. Beebe to do something. We need E-Verify in Arkansas now, in the next legislative session, because so many other states have passed laws causing even more illegals to come to Arkansas. Arkansas is already No. 1 in the nation in the increase of Hispanics.

What are traditional conservative Christians to do ? As we enter into this last quarter of the 2008 presidential-election campaigns, some of us are looking for a candidate we can support. It is just more of the same. We have nobody the media will highlight. Ron Paul has dropped out, but Bob Barr has not. Who is Bob Barr ? See, the media and our own mindset win again. What will happen is traditional conservative Christians will do nothing. I wonder if that is why we are called "traditional" ? We will sit at home or in the office all day on Nov. 4. And upon waking on Nov. 5, we will practice our biblical God-given right to whine - for the next four years. At the end of the four years, we will do it all again. Nothing. Something I understand yet question is the statement," If I vote different from my party nomination, I am throwing my vote away. "Wake up, people. That is exactly the same thinking that has gotten us into this mess. It's time to think outside the box. Doing the same old thing the same old way for more than 16 years is not working. This is a mind-blowing concept, but in order to make changes, we must do something different - even when it is in our voting. I admit I have wondered if elections are rigged. The one election I hope still makes a difference is the one done from the chair in the jury box. That personal accountability scares most people away. We have become a nation of cowards. Just another example why we have more whiners than doers. Your vote is your voice. Use it.
