Twelve Gauge Valentine — Dec. 30 @ The Music Hall, Fayetteville

It’s been a good run for the boys in Twelve Gauge Valentine, but the band’s current tour will be the last, the group has recently announced. Thankfully for fans, the goodbye tour will make a stop Dec. 30 at The Music Hall, 2147 N. College Ave., Fayetteville. The Southern metal band released its debut full-length [...]

The year in concert ticket sales

The Police reunited. Van Halen launched a big tour, and so did Genesis. Hannah Montana is a phenomenon. So the live music industry had a great year, right?

According to end-of-the-year data from Pollstar, which covers the music industry, ticket sales are down more than 10 percent. Reuters has more here.
Is there nothing worth seeing? Are [...]

Kevin’s favorite live performances of 2007

Of the dozens of shows I went to this year, here are those that, for whatever reason, caught me by surprise or particularly wowed me.

Dickson St., in Fayetteville. Since March 2006, Lee has been a regular busker, playing the tunes of John [...]

Kevin’s Top Albums of 2007

I’ll start with a disclaimer: I have not heard every CD released this year. M.I.A.’s new album is supposed to be great, but I don’t own it. I do own one of the best-reviewed albums of the year, techno band The Field’s “From Here We Go Sublime” but I just couldn’t get into it. In [...]

About halfway through his two-hour set, the Texas country superstar launched into a version of “Me And Billy The Kid,” albeit with different lyrics. Instead of “Me and Billy The Kid, we [...]

Listen to Joseph Israel’s new EP

Joseph Israel, Fayetteville’s only reggae star, has been a busy man in recent months.
Now a nationally signed recording artist, trips to his hometown have been few. He did, however, play a Nov. 17 benefit show for Restore Humanity in Fayetteville before joining forces with Matisyahu for a Dec. 8 show in New York City.
His new [...]
