The UA Sports Information Department announced today that transfer quarterback Ryan Mallett will not be eligible for the 2008 football season.
Mallett took part in spring practices early on, but suffered a thumb injury that kept him out of the Red-White game last week.

Remember Houston Nutt, the former Razorbacks football coach? No? Yeah, no one is talking about him any more. Doesn’t he coach at Ole Miss?
Sarcasm and a bevy of hyperlinks aside, Nutt reportedly helped former Arkansas receiver Marcus Monk get drafted by Chicago in the seventh round of the NFL Draft last week.

Nothing is official yet, but the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that former Hog Darren McFadden is requesting a six-year deal worth near $50 million from the Oakland Raiders.
The fourth pick in this year’s draft, McFadden may get no less than $20 million in guarantees.

The Sporting News‘ Tom Dienhart seems to think Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino isn’t all that he’s cracked up to be.
In his newest rankings of the SEC’s coaches, Petrino is ranked below a bevy of coaches, including Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt.

UA Sports Information announced Wednesday Arkansas will host defending national champion LSU in the “Battle for the Golden Boot” on Friday, Nov. 28, at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.
