Pelphrey’s a kicker

We all know Arkansas coach John Pelphrey is an intense guy during games. You can usually hearing him shouting over 19,000-plus in Bud Walton Arena here if you catch him at the right (or wrong, if you’d like) time.
Well, Pelphrey, reacting to a foul call with 12:53 remaining here in the first half against Auburn, […]

Hogs halfway to the Century Club

Arkansas’ 3-point barrage has been jaw-dropping in the first half. The Hogs, led by Stefan Welsh’s 3-of-4 performance beyond the arc, have hit 9 of 13 attempts from 3-point land. They’ve also been pretty good inside the line, and are connecting on 58.8 percent of their field goal attempts.
Right now, it’s all but over. Arkansas […]

Hogs can’t miss

The Hogs are out to a 21-point, 35-14 lead with 8:04 remaining. Weems, Ervin and Townes have been the catalyst on offense through a 21-0 run since the 12:03 mark.
Weems has 7 points and is looking a lot like an NBA player tonight, hitting 10-plus-foot faders in defenders’ eyes. LSU is back on offense now […]

A couple of observations, keys to game

We’re getting ready to tipoff here in Bud Walton Arena. Just a couple of observations before we go live here:

Bud Walton Arena is fairly empty for an SEC game. You can probably blame the attendance tonight on the bad weather moving into Fayetteville tonight. The area is under a Winter Storm Watch.

LSU center Chris Johnson […]

Prepping for tonight’s LSU game

We’ll be blogging live from Bud Walton Arena for tonight’s LSU-UA matchup at 7 p.m. Make sure and check us out here for updates. Don’t be shy, interact with us during the game.
The Hogs are heavy favorites tonight, but with the return of 6-foot-11 LSU center Chris Johnson to the mix, something tells me the […]

Hogs dominant as second half begins

I don’t know what’s more amazing. The Hogs scoring 46 first-half points or that the Florida Gators managed just 21 points.
Florida is the Southeastern Conference leader in offense, scoring an average of 81.5 points in six league games this year. We’ll see how the second half turns out. The Gators certainly have the fire power […]

Hogs start hot

Arkansas started the game 0-of-4 from the field, relying mainly on outside shots but started to drive to the basket and have now taken an 8-2 lead after a Steven Hill alley-oop dunk.
A little out of the norm for the Hogs, who have been known to start games cold from the field and had to […]

Hogs-Gators ready to tipoff

As we get started here, a few observations:
- Bud Walton Arena is filled up. Today’s game against Florida has to be the largest crowd of the season.
- The student section’s “What’s that smell?,” “Who’s she?” and “Big deal” chants as the opposing team’s lineup is announced is… getting… old.
- Charles Thomas, who was suspended by […]

Warm up the bus

Casey Dick threw a wobbly pass and William Moore picked it off, taking it back 26 yards for a touchdown with 7:37 left in the third quarter.
It was Moore’s eighth interception of the season — a Missouri school record. The Tigers lead 28-0.

Tejada misses again

Alex Tejada missed a 37-yard field goal attempt, his second failed kick of the game. Earlier, he missed a 36-yard try. The Razorbacks trail Missouri 14-0 with less than three minutes left in the first half.
