Even in an embarrassing loss, there were some positives to build on. This team has character, they will recover and improve. Good things aren’t that far away. Let’s get ready for some Texas-sized beef ! Go Hogs.
New coaches, totally new system, new players… the kids are talented and will eventually grow up. Better days are to come. Go Hogs!
I agree with you dwp, the kids will grow up, but the realization of having to say that 9 more times this season is frustrating. I think the defense must show more improvement than the offense this year. The offense really isn’t THAT bad (as long as Casey remembers what color jerseys we are wearing), but the defense must be more competitive. This will be a long year if the defense doesn’t improve drastically. Casey could throw for 5,000 yards this season, but if our record is still 2-9, what difference would it make? This year will have a tremendous impact on next year. Will the team accept losing as a way of life? Or will it learn to hate losing with a passion that will fuel them to reap payback next year? I’m hoping for the latter. Go Hogs!!
I agree, wyohog, the defense needs to step up or it will be a long season.
Hey Brandon, I have two questions for you. First, it would sure seem to me that Chip Gregory has fallen into a black hole. He’s a big, strong kid and could be a force on defense. Still no chance of a move? Second, is the DC sitting in the pressbox during the game? They say Robinson is a fiery sorta guy and it would certainly appear that the defense could use some flames right now.
dwp007,
Chip won’t be moved back. I think the coaches are pretty much going to work with what they’ve got.
Willy Robinson is sitting in the press box during the game. Coach Petrino said Monday that the Hogs need to do a better job of fitting the run, taking control of their gaps and, of course, stop missing tackles.
You gotta remember that the defense is just as new as the offense is to these players.
I would agree, Brandon. There has been wholesale change and these things take time - and patience. I still wish they would get both the D-coordinator and Chip Gregory on the field, however.
