You Pick ‘Em: Arkansas vs. Louisiana-Monroe

Take your pick. Do the Hogs stomp the Warhawks or is it another close one for the young and inexperienced Hogs? Give us your score.

But before you do, let’s recap last week. To say we all completely missed on our predictions in the Hogs’ season opener would be an understatement. For example, my 43-point Razorbacks win prediction was only off by, ehhh, 39 points and a bevy of touchdowns. Reader jfort20 was the closest prognosticator, predicting a 42-20 win last week.

Times assistant sports editor Joe West was the closest of the “experts,” projecting a 45-17 Arkansas win.

So, with that, I open it up for your Arkansas-ULM projections. Do the Hogs get their running game going, giving returning starter Michael Smith and the running backs the ball 25 times or does Casey Dick go pass-crazy against the Warhawks, who held Auburn’s pass game in check last week?

And don’t forget your score. Here are ours:

Brandon Marcello: Arkansas 38, ULM 17. The Razorbacks score three rushing touchdowns and Dick throws for a little more than 200 yards. Lots of improvement needed for the showdown with Texas in Austin, however.

Terry Wood: Arkansas 31, ULM 10. Honestly, I have no idea what will happen in this game — 31-10 just sounds like a good score to me.

Joe West: Give me the Hogs, 24-10. ULM’s offensive line is not good, to say the least. I see a bounce-back game for the Arkansas D-line.

Heath Allen: Arkansas 27, ULM 12.

David Showers: Arkansas 42-28. Razorbacks have to pull out another late victory

Come on guys and gals, step it up! Who you got?

Brandon Marcello

  1. Hogs win 42-13…Dick can’t be stopped except for turnovers which wont happen this game. He throws for 3 TDs and runs for another.

  2. Well, like most everyone else…I was WAY off on week 1 but that won’t discourage me this week. I think the offense will be a litte more comfortable from the onset this week, aided by Smith’s return, and the defensive front steps up a bit. Dick clears 250 in the air with three TD passes.

    Hogs take it, 41-20.

  3. The “youngsters” will still have the jitters for a series or so, but will be much improved playing in front of a frenzied crowd at “The Rock.” The defense also tightens with the addition of several older players finally coming off the injury list. Given ULM’s debut at Auburn last week, this game will be an early gauge on things to come. Razorbacks 41, ULM 14

  4. The hogs start out struggling once again. Only up 14-10 at halftime, they come out firing in the second half to win. Hogs 31 ULM 20.

  5. Not as ugly as the WIU game but a see-saw battle up until the last 6-7 minutes of the 4th quarter.

    Arkansas 33
    ULM 21

  6. 3 TD by air and land plus 2 field goals: Ark-27 ULM 17

  7. [...] game is ESPN’s pillow fight of the week!) so we’ve got predictions (Razorbloggers & Slophouse) and previews (Hog Blog & Razorbloggers). Here’s a look at Freshman WR Greg Childs. Willy [...]

  8. 1 rushing TD, 3 BY AIR, THE HOGS RUSH FOR 160 YARDS. Casey Dick throws for 225 yards. Hogs 30, ULM 24

  9. FYI, the Atlanta Journal Constitution has the Hogs winning by 12 or more points. Well, not the Hogs, but “El Diablo,” as Jeff Schultz writes:

“Good start for Bobby Petrino: Arkansas trailed I-AA Western Illinois by 10 points in the fourth quarter before scrambling to win, and Darren McFadden’s replacement, Michael Smith, was suspended for an undefined “textbook violation” (opening it?). But at least Petrino hasn’t quit yet. Trooper.”

And the jokes keep on comin’.

  10. Hogs 45, ULM 7. Intensity on Defence is back to Hawg style, offense rolls and we get to see the back up quarterbacks get some snaps. Hogs put this one away early and get some playing time for other youngsters.

  11. sloppy field creates havoc / turnovers HOGS 20 ULM 13

  12. I am not aware of any weather problems in LR since I live in Florida, but I sure have to beleive that as Wally Hall said last week, “Western Illinois is like beating UCA or UAPB”, surely we can show some BIG offense tonight against another inferior opponent.
How about Arkansas 38, ULM 17.
    (my fingers are crossed)
