Pre-Game Blog: Hogs bust into a Red Pants Party
UPDATE (5:55 p.m.): The Hogs debuted a new video intro up on the SmartVision, showcasing a bunch of Razorback highlights of the past. The highlights appear like holograms on a digital Frank Broyles Field on the SmartVision. Featured were Matt Jones, Quinn Grovey, Clint Stoerner’s pass to Anthony Lucas to beat Tennessee in 1999, Felix Jones and then Darren McFadden’s hologram, running toward the Hog tunnel, which then turns to black, as the back of a figure wearing a red polo appears. The man turns around and it’s Bobby Petrino, new head coach of the Razorbacks.
The sound system is horrible in this stadium, but it sounded like he and about a dozen Razorback players behind him say, “We are Arkansas football.”
Fireworks before the game. The A-10s just flew over the stadium during the National Anthem. Afteward, I had a faux heart attack as fireworks went off just above the Broyles Center on the north end of the stadium.
UPDATE (5:39 p.m.): Here’s a write-up on a few Hog fans who have been tailgating all day for your pre-game reading pleasure.
4:42 p.m.: The Razorback kickers are out on the field doing their thing in pre-game warmups. And, prepare for it, fans, they’re wearing red pants with white, thick stripes along the sides.
Not exactly the Cotton Bowl get-up form the Hogs’ big loss on Jan. 1, but it may bring up those bad memories for a few Hog fans in the stands.
Personally, they look good to me.
