You Pick ‘Em: Arkansas vs. Western Illinois
Well, the first game of the Razorbacks’ football season and the beginning of the Bobby Petrino era is just hours away. What do you see happening? Will Casey Dick have a huge day at quarterback, does the UA running game explode or is this one against Western Illinois a little too close for comfort?

Log in below and post your picks. (If you don’t have a login, register here). We’ll keep up with your picks and see who’s the closest come Sunday morning.
Here are some staff picks from the Northwest Arkansas Times, which we debuted in our Game Day edition podcast, to give you a base to start from.
Brandon Marcello — Arkansas 63, WIU 20. This one will probably be closer to 41-21, but something tells me the Hogs come out blasting on all cylinders, and Dick stays in the game for more than three quarters to warm up for the rest of the season. Dick, by the way, throws for about 240 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Terry Wood — Arkansas 56, WIU 16.
Heath Allen — Arkansas 55, WIU 18.
Joe West — Arkansas 45, WIU 17. Petrino’s offense opens game with a bang.
So, who you got? Western Illinois or Arkansas?

I don’t believe the current staff is looking to run up the score. They want to win the game and evaluate the talent of this team. Who wants to be a winner? Who can execute? Who wants an SEC championship? Who is willing to make this team special this year? I think this team is as hungry for success as any team I have seen in years. The players are prepared to execute in ways we haven’t seen in years. I can’t say what the score will be, but it will be a reflection of the hunger of this team’s players to make its mark in the SEC. The score is irrelevant so long as we win and get better for game 2. I think the defense will be a surprise in this game.
63-24…Dick comes out blasting then our amazing running backs just take over!!!
First game jitters leave it closer than it should be at half-time. But a sharp Dick turns the hogs loose in the second for a final of 41-16.
The Hogs may struggle the first couple of series on offense with the youth movement. Once they settle down, fireworks will begin to blast as the scoreboard lights up like a pinball machine.
The defense, also very young and having been shelled by Petrino’s offense for the majority of fall camp, will slowly begin to learn that they are considerably better than most people realize.
Arkansas 62, WIU 13
Like a lot of you, I think there’s a decent chance there’s a big round 6 at the beginning of this score.
Casey Dick and Friends get this 6-win train rollling.
Arkansas 66, WIU 21
Dick will surprise many and Smith will be hard to get a hold of, especially in the open lanes that passing the ball more tends to provide.
While the young defense may have issues down the road, the talent level proves to be just too much for the Fighting Leathernecks.
Arkansas 58, WIU 13
Arkansas 42 WIU 20
