A new Hog Call?

Watch out Bubba Hog, there’s a new dancing Arkansan maniac taking the Internet, eBays, YouFaces and Facetubes by storm. His name is Steve Lee, and he wants you to dance and spell out your Razorback pride.

Lee’s new song and dance is an attempt at bringing a new tradition to the Arkansas cheering repertoire. Sure there’s already “Woo Pig Sooie!” but there’s always room for something new, right? Just ask the people who came up with “Code Red.”

Yikes. I digress.

This, however, I would have to say, is much better and deserves a chance in Razorback Stadium this season.

The guys over at the Fayetteville Flyer (great, great, great site, by the way) electronically sat down with Mr. Lee, whose new music video and cheer made it to the airwaves on ESPN’s College Football Live this week. And by all accounts, Lee is a pretty smart and funny guy. Here are a couple of highlights of the Flyer’s interview.

“My intentions for the Arkansas Razorback Cheer is for the athletic department to use it at their events,” Lee told the Flyer. “Lets teach the band the tune, get the crowd hyped and get krunk! Plus, I thought it would be hilarious to try to make something sound like Jock Jams II.”

Later on in the interview, Lee’s comical nature starts to bleed through in his words.

FF: What do you think your chances are of getting your song played at the games? That’d be pretty awesome.
SL: Hmmm… I have never been a man of chance but if I were a betting man I would not know. All I know is the attention I have already received from the video is more than I ever expected so everything else is gravy… Gravy made of melted gold and dragons blood, topped with orange peel zest. Yum Yums.

Seriously, what could hurt giving this a try? Wisconsin plays “Jump Around” before the fourth quarter of every game, after all. Why not reward a creative fan and give it a shot on the SmartVision come Saturday?

By the way, I’m one of those guys who likes Hank Williams Jr.’s “Hog Wild” at the end of the Razorback games in Fayetteville. And Bubba Hog. I love me some dancing Bubba Duke.

So, take that for what it’s worth.

What do you think of Mr. Lee’s disco-tech?

  1. I hate it, it’s really bad. This song even fails as a joke. Just my 2 cents.

  2. Proof positive that some people will stop at nothing for their “fifteen minutes of fame.”
