Thursday Practice Notes
The Arkansas offense made easy work of Willy Robinson’s defense Thursday, so luck would have it that the defensive coordinator was the one on today’s media docket after practice.
Freshmen wide receivers Joe Adams and Jarius Wright saw some first-team work today and had a couple of nice grabs. London Crawford, whose as on and off and hard to figure as a new lightbulb that flickers, had a great one-handed, over-the-shoulder catch along the left sideline near the end of practice.
Other than that, Robinson, subbing for Bobby Petrino today in front of the media, said: “I think we’ve got to face the challenge that we didn’t win today. I’d like to think we’ll see ourselves on film tonight and understand we’re not playing at the tempo that we accept.”
Also of note — from Northwest Arkansas Times beat reporter Nate Allen — defensive tackle Ernest Mitchell seems to be battling back from his knee injury and freshman tailback De’Anthony Curtis is looking to be the first-team guy on kick returns.
Arkansas will hit the practice field at 3 p.m. Friday for the first time in full pads.
Video of Robinson after practice is now up on the site in our new multimedia section, so go check that out if you’d like. Also up are interviews with Paul Petrino, Bobby Petrino and tight end D.J. Williams.
In tomorrow’s Times, you can read more on practice and the inclusion of the new “Jack” linebacker position in the UA’s 4-3 base defense.
