Petrino on ESPN: ‘Not a thing’ to miss in NFL
ESPN’s College Football Live had Bobby Petrino on earlier this hour in a pre-taped segment. No real hard-hitting questions, which was expected. Not a whole lot of new info, either. Well, other than that Petrino saw The Dark Knight this weekend.

Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino chats with ESPN’s Brent Musburger on July 22.
So, as the Joker would say, why so serious? Here’s what Petrino had to say (video) in the interview with Brent Musburger:
— Casey Dick is the starter at quarterback and he expects he’ll have a great year.
— There was no other way for Petrino to leave the Atlanta Falcons last December. Said Petrino, “The timing was bad. If there was any other thing that I could have done, left any other way, I would have. From Atlanta’s standpoint and from the University of Arkansas’ standpoint, there was no other way for it to be done.”
— Asked what he did to convince recruits that he would be at Arkansas for a while, Petrino said, “We were able to go into young men’s homes and they understand why I went back into it.” He then added, “I need to make this a great job, there’s no question about that.”
Musburger then went into a rapid fire question-answer session with the Head Hog via satellite. Petrino, who was raised in Montana, said his favorite river is the Missouri River. The last book he read was The Secret and when asked what one thing he would miss the most about coaching in the NFL, Petrino replied: “Not a thing.”
Petrino handled himself well during the short segment and the analysts didn’t reflect on the interview after it was aired as they moved on to another subject. It’ll be interesting to see how Petrino reacts to the certain barrage of Atlanta, NFL and trust questions that will greet him Friday at SEC Media Days in Birmingham, Ala.
