UA Defensive Back Scouting Report

KNOWN QUANTITY — Physically imposing cornerback Jamar Love (6-1, 197) of North Little Rock came into his own in the spring while working with new cornerbacks coach Lorenzo Ward. He has the speed to run with receivers and the size to not be pushed around by the big receivers seen more and more in the college game.

X-FACTOR — Jerell Norton (6-0, 190) is not on the Hogs’ postspring depth chart because of hamstring injury, but he remains one of the most talented and experienced of Arkansas’ defensive backs. In fact, he led the team with five interceptions in 2007. If he is healthy, he should help make the Razorbacks’ secondary even stronger. Norton is one of the fastest if not the fastest player on the team.

PLAYER TO WATCH — Darrell Glasper (5-8, 180) of Baton Rouge, La., isn’t one of the biggest Razorbacks defensive backs, but that did not hold him back from making big plays in the spring. Whenever he was on the field during the spring drills, he made his presence felt with a big hit or by picking off a pass.
