Razorbacks Offensive Line Scouting Report
KNOWN QUANTITY
Two-time All-American and 2007 Rimington Award winner Jonathan Luigs is not only the Razorbacks’ best lineman, he is one of the best in the nation. It’s no secret that many of Darren McFadden’s longest runs went off center because of Luigs’ strength and agility. Luigs is not only a fine player, but a solid leader. Don’t be surprised if he is named one of the team’s captains.
X-FACTOR
Jose Valdez (6-5, 313) of St. Francis, Wis. started the bulk of his junior season in 2007, but with a change in offenses and coaching staffs, he struggled a bit in spring drills. Junior Michael Aguirre (6-6, 315) of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., pushed him for the starting job in the spring as a more natural pass blocker. However, Valdez won the job back because of his physicality. The competition at the right tackle spot could make both players better.
PLAYER TO WATCH
Wade Grayson (6-4, 292) of Harrison made a hard push late in spring practice that made the UA coaching staff take notice. He is smart, physical and athletic and can play center as well as guard. He should keep starter DeMarcus Love on his toes during preseason drills at right guard.
