NCAA ‘09 tailgate in Fayetteville today

If you’re a sports gamer, you’ve been waiting all summer for tonight.

At midnight, the newest installment of EA Sports’ uber-successful franchise, NCAA Football, will hit store shelves. As most of us know, and you’ve probably seen the posters at your local Wal-Mart, former Hog Darren McFadden will grace the cover of this year’s XBox 360 release.

The former Razorback, who has probably been on more covers than any other Razorback in history, has also brought some more notoriety to Fayetteville. The local Best Buy will be throwing a tailgate party in the parking lot at 6 p.m. to celebrate the release of NCAA Football ‘09. Kiosks with this year’s game will be available for hands-on playing at the event, which is probably a good enough reason to head out there. Prizes will be given away along with food and beverages as well.

Darren McFadden pleases the masses in NCAA Football ‘09

The tailgate will go on until midnight, when the game is released to the masses.

The Fayetteville Best Buy is one of five stores in the nation hosting an NCAA tailgate party.

The game will be available on all the “Next-Gen” consoles and even the now-aging Playstation 2 (hey, it’s new to me).

If any of you head out to the tailgate today, let us know what kind of goodies they’re giving away and if EA Sports actually has a varation of the Power Spread offense in Arkansas’ playbook.
