Go a round with Petrino, Pelphrey

To get things kicked off with his new charity, Pel’s Pals, Arkansas basketball coach John Pelphrey is auctioning off two slots for a chance to play a round of golf with himself, football coach Bobby Petrino and former Lady’Back Stacy Lewis.

You only have about 8 hours to bid on the eBay item (hey, it’s got free shipping!) and if you’ve got more than $5,000 to burn, you can rub elbows with the Double Ps and Stacy.

Thirty-six bids have driven up the askingĀ  price to $5,000 as of 8 a.m. Razorback bidders have until 6 p.m. today to secure two spots with the trio in the Pro-Am of the longest-named golf tournament ever, the LPGA P&G Beauty Northwest Arkansas Championship presented by John Q. Hammons in Rogers on July 2.

Gas prices will keep me out of this bidding war. That, and, well, like most of you, my income. Oh, and the fact that I’d shoot somewhere near a 120.

But, if you have the money, the rare opportunity to share some time with two Razorbacks coaches is worth it, especially considering it’s all for a good cause.

All proceeds from the auction will go to Pelphrey’s foundation, which benefits children’s charities with a special emphasis on neonatal care. Pelphrey’s son, John Patrick, died in 2003 shortly after birth because of a rare blood disorder. His story, along with other similar tragedies, sparked Pelphrey into action and the creation of Pel’s Pals.

  1. Wouldn’t it be nice to to be in the presence of Razorback Royalty. I for one do not have the the money it would take to secure a top bid. Besides, the gas it would take just to get there would be, tooo much from where I sit., I would love to get to know the Royal Family so Intimately. I wish them all the best in the Charity event and the upcoming seasons. Thank you Stacy ! I love MY HOGS, and my heart is always with them. Have a great time and I know one thing. These wonderful people only have the best of intentions for MY HOGS.
