Romo likes what he sees in Felix
Former Arkansas tailback Felix Jones has already impressed his new quarterback in Dallas.
The 5-foot-10 shifty runner has shown Tony Romo a few moves in a couple of short practices. What he’s seen has the Cowboys’ 4,000-yard passer already excited about next season.
In a video interview on the Cowboys’ Web site, Romo says Jones is a newcomer that will most likely stand out over the others on the Dallas roster:
“He’s got a real nice package of things we’re going to use, I think. … You could tell the first day that he’s going to definitely be part of our offense.”
Jones, whose uncanny ability to slip past speedy defenders on the corners propelled him to a 7.66 yards-per-carry average during his three-year UA career, will split time with Marion Barber next season in the Cowboys’ backfield.
The NFL Network also caught up with Felix on May 24 for a short interview. Showing he’s serious about being a big-time contributor in the “Big D,” Felix was busy studying in the team’s film room when Brian Baldinger interrupted him for a short discussion in front of the camera.
What makes Jones so special? Romo adds:
“I think a lot of it is, he has the ability to do some things that not everybody can.”
