McFadden’s agent meets with Raiders
Darren McFadden is out house hunting and his agent, Ian Greengross, entered into preliminary contract negotiations with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
McFadden can expect somewhere between $22 million to $30 million in guaranteed money from what we’re hearing. And remember, that’s just part of a multi-year deal which could run up to $60 million.
That should be good news for the Raiders, whose first round draft pick last year (JaMarcus Russell) didn’t arrive to camp until September because of contract disputes. Greengross is pretty swift with negotiations. In fact, he’s never had a client miss camp.
Here’s more from the Chronicle’s David White:
Sports agent Ian Greengross met with team officials Wednesday to begin negotiations on behalf of Darren McFadden.
The talks were described as preliminary and mark the first face-to-face contract talks between both sides.
McFadden hosted several family members — his father Graylon McFadden, stepmom Cookie and sister Gaylon. They watched practice and planned to spend the afternoon househunting for Darren.
A quick look at McFadden’s blog reveals he’s having a hard time finding a suitable pad near Oaktown:
I’ve been looking in Pleasanton, Oakland Hills, Alameda. Coming from the South the places are a lot smaller than I’m used to, but don’t get me wrong I’m not looking for anything big. I want to start small, something with decent space but not too big. I don’t do much cooking and most of these places that I’m seeing don’t have yards. The most important thing for me is proximity. I want to be close to work so I need to find a nice spot that’s not too far out.
D-Mac welcomed any househunting input on his blog. So, if you’re a Razorback fan transplant in the area, give the man some love.
Maybe he’ll give you some of his impending contract money in return.
