Thanks, Matt: McFadden set for big payday
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan, the No. 3 pick in this year’s NFL draft, reportedly signed a six-year deal worth $72 million today.
Thanks to those big numbers, Darren McFadden may now be set for a huge payday worth more than $50 million over five or six years with Oakland. Why and how, you ask? David White of the San Francisco Chronicle explains:
This can only be a good thing for Raiders fans hoping to see Darren McFadden get to camp on time.
Once Ryan agrees to a contract, the ceiling will more or less be set for everyone drafted thereafter — including McFadden, who the Raiders took fourth overall.
Ryan is reportedly guaranteed $34.75 million with the Falcons, according to the NFL Network. It should be noted that No. 1 pick Jake Long signed a five-year deal with the Dolphins worth $57.75 million.
The guess here is that McFadden can now ask for a figure closer to $60 million than the $50 million number that has been thrown about in recent weeks.
Number guessing aside, the point is this — McFadden is about to become a Multi-McMillionaire.
