Finale or farewell?
Will the Diamond Hogs be playing their final game of the year tonight against Western Illinois in Baum Stadium, or is Dave Van Horn’s squad gearing up for an NCAA Regional?
No one really knows, but what is for certain is that the baseball Hogs must win its regular season finale tonight for any chance at an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. Losing two out of three to last-place Mississippi State this weekend hasn’t helped, but as Nate Allen tells us today, the Hogs’ high RPI (No. 23) might just get them.
It’s certainly strange to see a Van Horn coached team missing out on the SEC Tournament and a possible NCAA Regional, but it’s easy to see how. Simply put, the Hogs’ bullpen has been atrocious at times this year.
But here are the Diamond Hogs, sitting and waiting. Is tonight a finale or a farewell to the fans as they gear up for a Regional road trip?
Meanwhile, track coach John McDonnell is doing well on his farewell tour. The Hogs won the SEC outdoors title this weekend.
