McFadden’s mom hates New York

Does mom really know best? In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Darren McFadden's mother, Mini Muhammad said she'd like to see her son drafted by Dallas, Atlanta or "whatever team they've got there in Tennessee."

If McFadden didn't have enough to worry about with his "character issues," his mother's past cocaine addiction spoiling newspaper features and constant media pressure, his mother comes out with this today for more to fester.

I bet the Jets, who have been contemplating trading up to get D-Mac, love those comments. The Raiders weren't safe either, according to the article.

What's more, McFadden's mom doesn't necessarily want to see him wind up on the West Coast either, where the Oakland Raiders are eyeing him for the fourth pick. She said she hates California for the same reason: Too big.

The report is spreading like wildfire on ESPN today, as well. Also, this is the second time this week that an Arkansas athlete's mother stepped into the decision process.

Here's some more:

No matter what happens, Muhammad said, she's proud and excited for her son. And as for Saturday's proceedings, she insists she won't be stressed.

"It's always been easy for me because I raised 12 children," she said. "It's no surprises when you raise that many kids."

ESPN.com's Matt Mosley says it won't just be McFadden moving to his draft city destination.

I'm told that his entire family (11 brothers and sisters) might end up in that city. And as one Arkansas football coach put it recently, "that's a little different situation there."

I wonder what Darren thinks about all this. I'm sure he's a tad stressed and mom's not helping much in the papers.

  1. I don't know why this is news. I mean they are from Arkansas, the most beautiful place on God's green earth, of course they they don't want to go to either of the over-crowded, concrete coasts.
